I wrote a screenplay based on an old book and needed to find the author's heirs in order to obtain the rights. I emailed Sherlock Investigations on a Friday afternoon and less than two hours later received an email from Skipp saying "We can do this for you." I literally spent years searching on my own for a biological father I hadn't seen in roughly 30 years. I was scanning websites and I came across yours. I believe you are the ones I need to help find my brother. I have exhausted all my resources in my own investigation of trying to find him and have come to a dead end. My mother passed away in March of 2004 and I tried searching for Ricky to get this news to him, but was unsuccessful. I've been sporadically searching for him for the past four years and have come up empty.

The reason I need to find him now is because my oldest brother Eddie is very sick, and I want Ricky to know that Eddie is on a timetable, not to mention that they're brothers, and he really should know this. I haven't seen him since 1991, but did speak to him some time later. I've been to the Social Security office to have them send out a letter to him for me. The letter contains the news about our mother passing away. I would like to know what I am supposed to do so that we can get the ball rolling on this.

A FEW DAYS LATER...

This is in reference to your finding my brother Ricky. He and I spoke this morning. I spoke to my brother for the first time in almost 10 years. He never received the letter that I had sent him almost seven months ago about the death of our mother. Social Security mailed it to "someone" but it surely wasn't my brother.

Ricky was soooo happy to hear my voice, as I was to hear his. His health has deteriorated and his lack of communication was due to his news of having the disease MS. My father and sister both have this disease and Ricky didn't want my dad knowing he had it because he would feel guilty thinking he gave it to him. Although medically speaking, this is not a genetic disease.

I believe what puts my mind at ease is knowing that he can get to see his older brother Eddie, who is sick and has roughly a year left to live out his life the way he chooses to. I know Eddie wants to visit Ricky down south, pack up his cats and dog and travel down there with his wife. And then I plan on having Ricky up north for Christmas, and to spend as much time up here as he'd like. I know my boys would love to see their uncle from long ago. They remember Ricky as the uncle who gave them the Atari. This is such a beautiful thing.

I know this is your job and what you do best, but I can't tell you "thank you" enough for finding him for me. I am just sorry that I hadn't done this sooner. You have changed our lives, and that of my whole family. Ricky can't wait to see us. I know that he now knows that we all love him dearly and it's okay to share something like this with those who love you. Family is supposed to support each other in times like this. But if you knew Ricky, he was the kind of guy who didn't want to burden anyone. He was making us believe that he didn't care about us. That's what I felt anyway. Now I know that wasn't true.

You are my angel and helped me find my lost brother. "Thank you" just doesn't seem like enough. My sincerest gratitude to you.
